The automotive care pioneer celebrates eight decades of innovation while accelerating its studio network, introducing its breakthrough Hybrid Solutions® Pure Bead coating, and scaling strategic investments across India.
NEW DELHI | 22nd SEPTEMBER 2026 | Turtle Wax, Inc., the globally renowned pioneer in automotive appearance and vehicle surface care, is celebrating its 80th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, Chief Executive Officer Laurie King visited India, highlighting the country’s critical role as one of Turtle Wax’s highest-priority growth engines in the Asia-Pacific region.
Founded in Chicago by chemist Benjamin Hirsch, Turtle Wax began in 1944 when Hirsch formulated the first liquid car polish in his family home. In 1946, inspired by the resilient protective barrier of a turtle’s shell, the company adopted the name Turtle Wax. Over the past 80 years, the family-founded brand has grown into a global titan operating across more than 120 countries, transitioning from traditional natural carnauba waxes to advanced silicon dioxide ceramics, pure bead hydrophobic solutions, and graphene nanotechnology.
During her official visit to Bengaluru and national retail hubs, CEO Laurie King met with Indian leadership, retail partners, and detailing entrepreneurs to double down on Turtle Wax’s strategic investments in the region. Commenting on the global 80-year milestone and her visit to India, Laurie King, Chief Executive Officer, Turtle Wax, Inc., stated, “Reaching 80 years reflects our commitment to chemical excellence and the trust consumers have placed in Turtle Wax. As we celebrate this legacy, our eyes are firmly on the future, and India is central to our global growth strategy. The rapid vehicle premiumization across Indian cities, combined with the immense pride Indian families take in their automobiles, makes this market unique. We plan to support this passionate automotive community by expanding our localized manufacturing partnerships, products designed for Indian climate and conditions, and continued investment in high-quality detailing infrastructure. Introducing Hybrid Solutions® Pure Bead during this visit represents that exact philosophy, bringing our most advanced, streak-free extreme hydrophobic spray technology to Indian car owners who demand effortless, trusted surface protection.”
Marking a major technical milestone during the visit, Turtle Wax also introduced Hybrid Solutions® Pure Bead across India. Engineered as an extreme spray-on coating, Pure Bead forms an immediate molecular bond that delivers the highest level of water repellency in the brand’s portfolio. The formula delivers extreme hydrophobic protection, a streak‑free finish, and true multi‑surface compatibility, across gloss and matte paint, PPF, glass, and exterior trim without requiring specialized equipment or complex application techniques. The advanced protection ensures extreme water beading and fast roll‑off, dirt, road film, and debris struggle to stick, reducing wash frequency and keeping vehicles looking freshly detailed between cleans.
Since establishing its Indian subsidiary in 2019, Turtle Wax has successfully adapted its traditional Do-It-Yourself (DIY) retail model into a specialized “Studio-First” Do-It-For-Me (DIFM) ecosystem tailored to Indian vehicle owners. The brand has surpassed the milestone of 100 operational co-branded Turtle Wax Car Care Studios® across Tier-1 metropolitan hubs such as Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai, while accelerating expansion into high-growth Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets. The network is supported by a dedicated 1,500 sq. ft. Experience Centre and local manufacturing ecosystem as the company plans to open more than 50 additional studios over the next 12 to 24 months.
Highlighting the brand’s local impact and growth focus, Dibya Swarup Panigrahi, Marketing Director, Turtle Wax India & ASEAN, added, “Our CEO – Laurie King’s visit during the 80th anniversary year underscores Turtle Wax’s long-term commitment to India, one of the world’s most dynamic automotive markets. As vehicle ownership becomes increasingly driven by pride, passion, and experience, we are committed to helping consumers preserve and enhance their vehicles through solutions engineered for Indian conditions and skill development initiatives such as our Detailing Academy. Bringing Pure Bead to our market gives daily drivers and detailing enthusiasts access to foolproof hydrophobic science that keeps vehicles pristine through heavy dust and severe monsoons. We believe India is poised to become one of the most vibrant automotive enthusiast markets globally, and Turtle Wax is proud to support that journey.” On the ever-growing automotive culture in India, he added: “The future of automotive culture in India isn’t just about what we drive but also about how we care for what we drive. Whether it’s a motorcycle prepared for a Himalayan ride, a family SUV heading out for a road trip, or an EV parked in a city garage, pride of ownership is becoming the common thread that connects India’s growing enthusiast community.”
As Turtle Wax enters its ninth decade, the company remains dedicated to combining global chemistry expertise with locally relevant products, services, and partnerships to help the journeys of millions of drivers worldwide.
