Ahmedabad 10th June 2025: is an auspicious day marking Ashadhi Beej and the Kutchi New Year. The grand Rathyatra of Lord Jagannath will also take place the same day. This year, June 27 will also feature an entertainment yatra, marked by the grand release of a soul-stirring Gujarati family film, Goti Lo.

Goti Lo, such a lovely Gujarati name! The film is directed by Deepak Antani and produced by his friend Gaurang Bhavsar, based in the US. Veteran theatre and film actor, Padma Shri Manoj Joshi, will be seen in the role of the grandfather. The cast also includes Manav Rao, Mehul Buch, Makarand Annapurna, Dipen Raval, Shweta Raval, Jahnvi Patel, Bhavya Shirohi, Vishal Thakkar, Ravi Om Prakash Rao, Mitesh Prajapati, and Satvi Chokshi.

The child actor Manav Rao hails from Atlanta, US, and plays the character Chandu. This is the first time that a non-resident Gujarati (NRG) is playing the lead role in a Gujarati film.

The film’s producer is Gaurang Bhavsar and the co-producer is US-based Prasad Patel. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Ashok Upadhyay, with music composed by Sameer Mana and cinematography and editing by Rupang Acharya. Production design is by Falguni Thakor.

The subject of Goti Lo is extremely engaging, revolving around three generations. It’s a story about family and relationships. The idea for the film originally came to Gaurang Bhavsar, who then shared it with his close friend Deepak Antani. Deepak liked the idea and narrated the story to Manoj Joshi, who immediately agreed to be part of the film.

Deepak Antani, who has extensively worked as an actor, director, and writer in theatre, TV serials, and films, is a familiar name. He has previously directed four successful films, and Goti Lo marks his fifth directorial venture.

Speaking about the film, Director Deepak Antani says, “Goti Lo is not a conventional love story between a hero and heroine, but it certainly explores the theme of love. The film features lively songs, innocent games that remind us of childhood friendships, and inspiring stories of challenges and triumphs. It is something truly fresh for Gujarati cinema. The subject will resonate with the audience across all age groups.”

Shot in the picturesque village of Bamna, the birthplace of the late poet Umashankar Joshi, and the stunning locales of Sabarkantha, the film captures both visual and emotional beauty. One of the film’s highlights is the revival of the beloved Gujarati children’s song Hu Ne Chandu Chhanamana, penned by acclaimed poet Late Ramesh Parekh and originally composed by the late Paresh Bhatt.

The recently released poster and title track have received an enthusiastic response across Gujarat and among the global Gujarati diaspora. In a world where life often feels stuck behind mobile screens, Goti Lo offers a refreshing and emotional escape into familial love and tradition.

Goti Lo will release in theatres across Gujarat, Mumbai, and the US on 27th June.
