Over 200 Participate in Sicilian Games Chess Tournament

GUJARAT, AHMEDABAD | 26th DECEMBER 2025 — The Sicilian Games Chess Tournament was held at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex today as part of the ongoing month-long Sicilian Games 2025, drawing participation from a large number of entrepreneurs and professionals.

Gujarat’s first chess Grandmaster and one of India’s leading players, Tejas Bakre, was a special guest at the tournament, which witnessed strong participation, with more than 200 players competing on the day.

Speaking on the occasion, Grandmaster Tejas Bakre, said, “The Sicilian Games is a fantastic initiative. It is encouraging to see so many entrepreneurs actively participating in a wide range of sporting events. The Veer Savarkar Sports Complex is a state-of-the-art facility that has hosted several top-level events, and seeing over 200 players competing in chess here is truly heartening. I congratulate BNI for this initiative and for contributing to the growth of a strong sporting culture in Gujarat.”

The Sicilian Games are hosted by BNI Ahmedabad, which has emerged as one of the city’s influential business networking platforms. Now in its ninth edition, the Games were inaugurated earlier this month and will continue through December and January.

The month-long programme will see more than 2,500 BNI members compete across 18 different sports and games, making it one of the largest multi-sport initiatives organised by a business network in the city. The Games focus on promoting healthy lifestyles, teamwork and collaboration among entrepreneurs and professionals.

The Sicilian Games 2025 are presented by Broghar Realty and are being held at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, the central venue for several events during the games.
