AHMEDABAD, GUJARAT | 15th FEBRUARY 2026 — Tadko – The Essential, proudly Made in Bharat, marked a significant milestone in its journey to promote Indian culture and handicrafts with the grand opening of its Craft Museum & Learning Institute in Ahmedabad. The initiative reflects the brand’s strong commitment to preserving India’s rich textile heritage and restoring the true value of artisans whose skills have been passed down through generations.
Founded by Ketan Patel, Tadko has consistently supported Indian handicraft workers and traditional fabric creators. Addressing the gathering, Patel emphasized that while international markets recognize and purchase Indian textiles at premium prices, many Indians are gradually shifting towards western fashion, overlooking their own cultural clothing. He expressed concern that if traditional fabrics and handcrafted garments are not valued today, India could risk losing its artisans and heritage crafts over the next 20–25 years.
Highlighting the importance of sustainability, Patel stated that traditional Indian garments are environmentally friendly and cause minimal damage compared to fast fashion. He stressed that while embracing modern advancements and technology, it is equally important to protect cultural roots and promote eco-conscious fashion. The long and intricate process undertaken by artisans deserves recognition, fair pricing, and wider market opportunities, he added.
A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of India’s Longest Kurti, created using approximately 200 meters of fabric. The extraordinary creation stands as a symbol of scale, craftsmanship, and dedication, and marks Tadko breaking its own previous record. The installation showcases the strength and artistic excellence of Indian handcraft traditions.
The Craft Museum & Learning Institute aims to serve as a platform for preserving traditional textiles, educating the younger generation about Indian fabrics, and providing training and support to artisans. The institute will also focus on creating better opportunities for craftsmen by connecting them with larger markets and increasing order volumes.
Through this initiative, Tadko reinforces its mission to celebrate heritage, empower artisans, and ensure that India’s traditional crafts continue to thrive for generations to come.
