Gandhinagar 24 October 2024: LinkedIn is the world’s largest professionalThe network has partnered with Gujarat International Finance Tech-City (Gift City), which will support workforce development in Gujarat with India’s first operational smart city and first International Financial Services Center (IFSC) . The purpose of the partnership is to provide academic institutions, employers and government agencies within the Gift City with local labor market data that helps them better understand the current and future demands of the states labor market. This strategic collaboration is an important step towards building a sustainable talent pipeline that can support the growth of Gift City as a global hub for financial services and technology.
As part of the collaboration, LinkedIn also unveiled the Gujarat Talent Report at the Talent Summit organized by Gift City at IIT Gandhinagar last Thursday. The report presents a comprehensive analysis of states’ talent ecosystems and their readiness to meet the demands of a changing global economy. According to the report, Gujarat is fast emerging as a key player in India’s talent and innovation landscape with a 142% growth in AI skilled professionals in Ahmedabad alone in the last one year. The report states that Gujarat now hosts the seventh largest talent pool in India with nearly 4 million professionals on LinkedIn signaling the state’s emergence as a hub for future ready skills.
The report also highlights the increase in demand for AI, IT and financial professionals in the state. As artificial intelligence transforms, industry professionals in Gujarat are upskilling to stay competitive. The report shows that Gujarat has seen a 102% increase in professionals investing in AI-related skills such as AI for business machine learning and data analytics.

According to LinkedIn data derived from billions of data points generated by over 140 million users in India, Gujarat is fast becoming a tech fin hub with 86,000 software engineers, 71,000 finance professionals and 21,000 management experts. While most of this talent is concentrated in big cities, smaller cities like Porbandar, Ankleshwar and Dahod are also emerging as growth hubs, further diversifying the states’ talent landscape. In addition, talent from neighboring states, especially IT and software professionals, makes up 30% of inbound talent, adding to Gujarat’s rise as a tech-fin leader.
Top conglomerates and Global Competence Centers (GCCs) are also tapping into Gujarat’s rich talent pool driving significant workforce growth in the region. LinkedIn data shows that big companies like Tata Group, Samsung and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) have increased their headcount in Gujarat by almost 90% in the last one year. GCCs such as Amazon have also increased their operations in the state. These employers are actively seeking professionals with a mix of technical skills such as SQL, Python and Java, along with non-technical competencies in CRM change management and business analysis.
