Ahmedabad 18 November 2024: The Gujarat Women’s Championship 2024, organized by the Big Bash Sports Foundation and Sahajanand Foundation, in association with the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), is set to inspire and showcase the incredible talent of women cricketers. This prestigious tournament will be held at the iconic Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad, from November 19th to November 24th, 2024.
The championship aims to provide a platform for women cricketers, promote gender equality in sports, and highlight Gujarat’s commitment to empowering women in cricket.
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony will take place on November 19th, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, and will feature esteemed dignitaries:
- Chief Guest: Smt. Sonalben Shah (Wife of Shri Amit Shah)
- Guest of Honor: Smt. Shubhangi Kulkarni (Former Captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, Cricket Administrator, and BCCI Apex Council Member)
The day will also mark the toss and commencement of the tournament, showcasing the enthusiasm and dedication of the participating teams.
Tournament Highlights
- Format: A series of competitive matches featuring talented women cricketers from across Gujarat and beyond.
- Schedule:
- 19th to 21st November: League matches (two matches daily: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM)
- 23rd November: Semi-Finals
- 24th November: Grand Finale
Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony on November 24th, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, will celebrate the achievements of the players and teams. It will feature:
- Chief Guest: Shri Ajaybhai Patel (Senior Vice President of IOA and Member of IOA’s Executive Council)
The final match will follow, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, culminating in the trophy presentation to the winning team.
