The Championships will begin on November 20 and go on for a week, with special days on the 22nd and 24th
Ahmedabad 19 November 2024: Showcasing Ahmedabad’s growing reputation as a hub of sporting excellence, the SFA Championships 2024 kicks off on Wednesday at the SAI Netaji Subhash Southern Centre Athletics Ground. The event will see an impressive 14,764 athletes, aged 3 to 18, from 387 schools competing in 16 sports across four venues, underlining the city’s commitment to promoting a vibrant sports culture.
Nearly twice as many budding athletes as the previous edition will get the opportunity to showcase their skills at venues sprawled across the city, including IIT Gandhinagar, Pandit Deendayal Energy University- PDEU (Formerly PDPU), Sabarmati Riverfront Sports Complex, marking a significant growth of the Championships. Moreover, 387 schools will be represented in this year’s SFA Championships.
Sports For All (SFA) is committed to professionalising, organising, and monetising grassroots sports, aiming to foster a culture that values and invests in sports nationwide. The championships this year will run until November 26, roping in participants from across Ahmedabad in a hunt for the best talents.
Speaking about the championship, Rajas Joshi, the Founding Member and COO of the SFA Championship said, “The SFA Championship is a celebration of grassroots sports and young talent across India. This event is not just about competition; it’s about giving every child the opportunity to excel in sports, regardless of their background. We are committed to creating an environment that nurtures future athletes and fosters a lifelong love for sports, with world-class venues and meaningful initiatives that highlight the importance of mentorship and gender equality in sports.”
Additionally, the SFA Championships will celebrate two special days in this year’s event. November 22nd will be ‘Coach Day,’ honouring and celebrating their contributions, with engagement activities organised specifically to highlight their dedication and impact. Meanwhile, “She is Gold” Day, dedicated to celebrating women in sports, will take place on November 24th, wherein 80% of the matches will feature female athletes, coaches, and officials will have fun and engaging activities.
The SFA Championships 2024 will bring an exciting lineup of competitions to Ahmedabad. The event will feature a range of sports, including Athletics, Badminton, Football, Chess, Kabaddi, Karate, Swimming, Kho-Kho, Basketball, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Yogasana.
